Lightfall consists of several stereoscopic landscape paintings of vegetation and rocks hung on the wall. Featuring these fictional scenes constructed with fluorescent minerals, this work tries to decipher the “code” written collectively by light and matter.
The fluorescent minerals and plants are exposed to the alternating full-spectrum white (qua-si-daylight) or ultraviolet (UV) light. We can see the imbricated rocks covered with lush green moss during the “daytime.” When the “night” falls, the UV light triggers the electronic transitions in the minerals that add peculiar colors to the rocks, while the plants with chlorophyll glow dimly in red.
